The Troy Colts came to Collier lanes on Thursday night to take on the Wildcats of Oxford. The Oxford Girls and Boys have been on fire from the start of the season and it would continue against Troy.
The girls had an easy go of it because Troy could only field 3 bowlers. The Ladies bowled very solid and were led by Grace Meyer. Grace set the pace with games of 205 and 220. Claire Sandstrom had a strong 190 game as well. The girls are now 4 and 0 on the season as the rolled to a 30 to 0 victory.
"The girls had a solid night but really have some work to do. I confident they will continue to improve and be ready after the holidays. We have some real strong opponents coming that will test them." said Head Coach JR Lafnear
The boys match on paper looked to be a tough match up. Troy has good young talent and they have been bowling well. But so have these Wildcats. The Wildcats struck early with 4 strikes in the final 4 shots in baker game one to pull from behind and win 177 to 166. That lit a fire and the boys rolled to a 30 to 0 sweep from there. Outstanding efforts from Collin Massie 223,237, Tony Verbeke 264,221, and Luke Acton 268,215 led the way. The team shot games of 1096 and 1022 in the victory.
"This was a match up that I was concerned about. Troy is well coached and has talent and I knew our boys would have to be on their games to win. They all weren't on tonight but the ones that were shot the lights out. This was a good week for us beating 2 of the better teams in the OAA Red division."
