Varsity Girls' Lacrosse Advance To 3-0
The Oxford High School Girls Varsity Lacrosse team returned to the field after the long break and did not miss a beat as they traveled to Davison High School Monday night, returning to Oxford with an 11-1 victory.
Coach Aliisa Mason's team continues to show up in all areas of the game. After a quick goal by Davison to start off the scoring the Wildcats followed quickly with 2 goals and held the lead for the remaining 43 minutes of the game.
The offense started with Josie Kane (senior) controlling the draws.  The goal production was supported by the play of Emma Crosby (sophomore), Gwyn Love (junior) and Alexa Warman (junior) as they pressed aggressively, positioned well, and patiently passed to open teammates allowing them to finish the plays, often resulting in a goal for Oxford.
The defensive approach held the Cardinals scoreless for a 49 minute stretch, during this time the Wildcats created countless broken plays, turnovers, and had text book break outs which generated offensive opportunities.  Kennedy Brisbon (senior), Audrey Hermanson (junior), and Brynn Pierse (junior) played key roles during the 49 minute Davison scoreless stretch as they closed gaps, pinched attackers, and out hustled opponents to lose balls in the defensive zone.
Goaltender Gracie Fritsche (sophomore) continues her excellent net play, Fritsche came up strong cutting angles, snagging shots out of the air as well as digging them out of the dirt.

Oxford goal scorers:

  • Josie Kane (senior)-4
  • Carli Doyle (junior)-3
  • Olivia Soule (junior)-2
  • Alexis Tincher (junior)-1
  • Keira Veltigian (senior)-1
